Getting vaccinated in King County:

King County is opening two community vaccination sites on February 1 in Kent and Auburn to expand vaccine access to the most vulnerable older adults in south King County. Registration is now open to eligible south King County residents for appointments. 

• You must register ahead; there is no on-site registration. 
• People with I/DD age 50 and older who cannot live independently (and their caregivers) who live in south King County are eligible.

Who is eligible? Residents of South King County who are ....

• Age 75 and older, OR
• A family caregiver or home care worker taking care of someone age 50 or older who cannot live independently. The caregiver or home care worker does not need to be 50 or older, OR
• Specific groups of people age 50 and older. Those who are:
• Unable to live independently and receiving care from a caregiver, relative, in-home caregiver or someone who works outside the home.
• Living with AND caring for kin (examples include caring for a grandchild, niece or nephew. This does not include parents living with their child)

Information on mass vaccination sites run by the state ...

All mass vaccination sites are by appointment only and preregistration is required. Walk-ups are no longer accepted and, unfortunately, we’ve had to turn people without appointments away.

Here are the steps you must follow in order to get a vaccine:

1. Confirm you’re eligible using Phase Finder. If you need help with Phase Finder, dial 1-800-525-0127, then press #. Language assistance is available.

IMPORTANT: Phase Finder does not make you a vaccination appointment.

2. Currently in Washington state, there are Mass Vaccination Sites in four areas (Ridgefield, Wenatchee, Kennewick, and Spokane) and there will continue to be additional sites added across the state. To make an appointment at one of these sites, visit the DOH Mass Vaccination Site page. If you need help or don’t have internet access, call 1-800-525-0127, then press #. Language assistance is available.

3. You will receive an appointment confirmation with a date and time. Please stick to the timeslot you were given.

4. Finally, if you live in an area that does not currently have a mass vaccination site, please visit DOH's Vaccine Locations page to make an appointment with a local provider.

We realize appointments are limited and fill up quickly. We understand your frustration, but please do not get discouraged! As more vaccine becomes available, more appointment times will open up every week and you will be able to get your vaccine. Until then, please check back frequently. We know you’re waiting anxiously, and we appreciate your patience.

It’s important we continue doing the things that protect us all: 

• Wear your mask
• Wash your hands
• Keep your distance
• Get tested if you think you have been exposed or have symptoms of COVID-19. 

You can also help by sharing this information with family, friends, and community groups.

We know these are trying times, but, with vaccination, hope is on the horizon. We will continue working as hard as we can to get you your vaccine as soon as possible.

Más de 10.000 personas reciben la vacuna contra el COVID-19 en los sitios de vacunación masiva del estado

Siguiendo una primera semana exitosa en los cuatro sitios de vacunación masiva del estado, el Departamento de Salud del Estado de Washington (DOH) se complace en anunciar que el registro se está abriendo para la segunda semana.

10,000 vaccinated and counting at 4 mass vaccination sites

News from the state Department of Health:

Following a successful first week at the state’s four mass vaccination sites, the Washington State Department of Health (DOH) is pleased to announce registration is opening for week two.

Thanks to the hard work of DOH, the Washington National Guard, and local and private sector partners, as of January 29, more than 10,000 people got their COVID-19 vaccine at mass vaccination sites, including:

• 2,509 in Spokane
• 3,060 in Ridgefield
• 1,550 in Wenatchee
• 3,817 in Kennewick

The goal of mass vaccination sites is to increase access to vaccine across the state, ensure our plans are equitable, and protect those most at risk. These numbers prove we’re moving in the right direction!

To make an appointment for next week, you must first confirm you’re eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine under Phase 1A or 1B-1 using the Phase Finder tool. Phase Finder does not make you an appointment. Once confirmed through Phase Finder, you can make an appointment at one of the mass vaccination sites listed below. Please note, hours and registration information is different for each location.

Spokane

Registration opens Monday at 5 p.m. You are encouraged to make an appointment online. If you need assistance, please call 509-444-8200.

• Do you have a developmental disability or support someone who does?
• Do you have questions and concerns about what is happening with COVID-19?
• Are you looking for resources or just want to connect with others who understand what you are going through?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, and you live in Washington state, please join the Washington State Developmental Disabilities Council, TheArc of Washington State, and the Developmental Disabilities Administration for a virtual town hall to discuss the impact of COVID-19 on the developmental disabilities community and what is being done to meet the needs of people across the state.

What to expect:

• Important updates from DDA (central office and regional DDA staff will participate)
• Resources and ideas.
• A chance to ask questions and share concerns.

The meetings are open to the public, including (but not limited to): individuals with developmental disabilities (including those who do not receive DDA services), parents and other family members, and professionals.
